Two of the biggest Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) the City of Guthrie was hopeful for with the approved city-wide sales tax increase was for the improvement in their fleet, specifically for the Guthrie fire and police departments. On Tuesday, they agreed to their first big purchases.
The City Council unanimously approved a 107 foot aerial ladder fire apparatus from Pierce Manufacturing/Conrad Fire Equipment and 10 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit units with equipment and upfit from Hudiburg Chevrolet.
The Guthrie Fire Department has been without a ladder truck for nearly two years after retiring their 65-foot, 1991 truck for failing the annual safety certification testing required by national standards.
The new fire apparatus comes with a price tag of $934,225.00, including a $48,518 discount.
The delivery of the ladder truck is expected to be no more than 14 months.
The Guthrie Police Department has been fighting their fleet issues for years, but are now hopeful they can retain a healthy fleet rotation.
The police units, which will come fully equipped with emergency equipment, were purchased by the Oklahoma Statewide Contract through Hudiburg Chevrolet.
The total price tag for the complete 10 units is $720,330.00. Each unit has a breakdown of $ 36,198 for the vehicle and $ 35,835 for the emergency equipment.
In February, Guthrie voters approved a three-quarters sales tax with a 15 year (June 30, 2031) sunset clause for capital improvements.
