Council awards demolition contracts for dilapidated properties

The Guthrie City Council has approved the awarding of Bid No. 2024-06 for Demolition and Site Clearance Services to two companies during their regular meeting on Tuesday night. The contracts will see Native Wrecking of Edmond, OK, and K&M Wrecking of Oklahoma City, OK, undertake the demolition of three condemned properties in Guthrie.

Native Wrecking was awarded the contract for the demolition of the property located at 624 E Harrison Ave at a total cost of $9,810. Meanwhile, K&M Wrecking will handle the demolition of the properties at 919 N Ash St and 1217 E Lincoln Ave for $14,600.

This decision follows a public hearing held on March 19, 2024, where it was determined that these properties should be declared dilapidated. Subsequently, Resolution 2024-02 was approved, condemning the properties and giving property owners 30 business days to appeal, demolish the structures, or make substantial improvements. Failure to comply would result in the structures being demolished and abatement liens being filed against the properties.

Of the seven bids submitted, three were disqualified for lacking required documents. The contracts were awarded to the lowest bidders who met all requirements: K&M Dirt Services, LLC dba K&M Wrecking, and Native Wrecking Services.
