Demolition of dilapidated structures has been a high priority set out by the Guthrie City Council.
Last year, the City Code Enforcement office took inventory of the dilapidated structures around town and came up with a list of over 50 properties that need to be addressed. The properties were given rankings of 1-5, with 5 being the worst. In 2011, the City was successful in getting eight properties torn down.
These items are the public hearings and considerations to declare the next round of dilapidated structures as public nuisances and authorize the City to have the structures demolished. The City has gone through the legal process of notification and made attempts to get the property owners to remove the structures themselves without success.
This council will consider permission for staff to solicit bids for the demolition of these properties at the council meeting on Tuesday, January 17th.
Here are the structures the council will be considering. Photos courtesy of City of Guthrie.
