A Logan County commissioner has announced he will run for reelection in June.
“I am seeking reelection as commissioner for District 2,” Mike Pearson said in a social media post.
Pearson has been elected to two-four year terms with his current term set to expire on Dec. 31.
According to Pearson, candidates have two options when filing for office with the Logan County Election Board. The first option is to pay a $200 fee. The second option is to collect four percent of signatures from registered voters.
Pearson, a Republican, says he will look to gather approximate 200 Republican signatures.
Pearson served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following a honorable discharge, Pearson went back to school and received his degree in Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma, with a minor in math and physics.
Last month, Sheriff Jim Bauman announced he was also seeking a third term. Related story: Sheriff Bauman announces he will run for a third term
Anyone wishing to run for the county offices of sheriff, county clerk, court clerk or district two commissioner will have the opportunity to file their paperwork between April 13-15 with the Logan County Election Board. If there are two or more candidates to file for an office, a primary election will be held June 28.
