A Logan County Commissioner announced Monday morning that he will resign his post.
District 2 Commissioner Kody Ellis issued the statement at the scheduled Board of County Commissioners meeting. The announcement comes during an open investigation.
The resignation is effective February 28, 2023.
“I just want everybody to know that I will be filing a formal resignation,” Ellis said. “I appreciate everything that everybody has done. I just want to apologize.”
The upcoming resignation comes amidst an investigation for possible embezzlement.
“Very recently a criminal investigation conducted by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) was presented to my office alleging possible embezzlement charges against a Logan County elected official,” Logan County District Attorney Laura Austin Thomas said in a release to Guthrie News Page last week.
