Thursday evening marked a special moment in Coyle’s football history as the Coyle football field was officially named Weathers Field in honor of Coach Shane Weathers. The ceremony, held just before the first game of the season against Pond Creek-Hunter, recognized Coach Weathers for his tremendous efforts in revitalizing the Coyle football program.
Coach Weathers, who took the reins and brought Coyle Football back from the brink, led his teams to multiple state playoff runs, including a remarkable journey to the State Runner-Up title in Class C in 2016. His impact on the program and the community has been so significant that he was inducted into the 8-Man Football Hall of Fame, further cementing his legacy.
Beyond his on-field achievements, Coach Weathers and his wife, Dr. Julie Weathers, have been unwavering supporters of Coyle Public Schools. Even after his retirement this past spring, the Weathers family continues to be deeply involved in the Coyle community, embodying the spirit of dedication and commitment.
The naming of Weathers Field is a fitting tribute to Coach Weathers’ enduring legacy in Coyle. The community extends its heartfelt thanks to Shane and Julie Weathers for their years of support and the lasting impact they’ve made on Coyle Football.
