The Guthrie baseball bats were cold on a chilly day as they produced two hits in seven innings with both of those coming late in the game when the game was already decided. The Jays fell 7-0 to Deer Creek at Squires Field on Tuesday.
Ricky Ramirez got the win for Deer Creek. He pitched seven shutout innings. He struck out five, walked four and surrendered four hits. With the win, Ramirez and the Antlers win District 5A-1 and the Jays finish runner-up. Both will host regionals next week.
Blaze Hasting suffered his third straight loss on the mound after starting the season out 6-0 on the mound. The senior right-hander has gotten zero runs in his last two outings and two runs overall in his last three starts.
Deer Creek scored two runs in each of the second, fifth and sixth. In the second, Deer Creek scored on a two-run single by Brock Ruminer, bringing home R.J. Royal and Jackson Girod.
