The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is investigated cases they feel are related after homes were burglarized and several thousands of dollars worth of jewelry taken.

BurglaryOn the afternoon of June 24 at 3:40 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Highway 105 west of Luther on the north side of 105 to take a report of stolen metal. The victim told deputies heavy copper wire, chains and chain cleaves were taken from the property.

An estimated loss of $2,060.00 was reported with the majority of that figure related to the copper theft.

Before the previous call, deputies were asked to respond to the 5800 block of North Post Road on a residential alarm, but later was called off by the alarm company a minute later. However, less than an hour later, deputies were again dispatched to the location when a victim reported a large number of items of jewelry had been stolen.

The total estimated loss was $8,038.

In less than 40 minutes following the second call, deputies responded to the 4800 block of North Post Road on another residential burglary report.

Again, a victim reported several items of jewelry had been stolen. The total estimated loss was $1,668.

  1. So the alarm company clears the call and a deputy doesn’t continue to the scene anyway. What if the home owner was being held hostage and was being made to clear the call? How was the alarm cleared in the first place now that we know the owner wasn’t home? Is there no common sense in our Sherriff’s Dept?

  2. Why are we just now hearing about this, it happened on June 22nd. There has been a lot more house broken into than this.

  3. Happened at a house near Hwy 105 and Post on the 26th too, during the day while homeowners were at work. Kicked in the front door and only took Jewelry. Was probably only in the house for seconds!! BE AWARE everyone, watch your neighbors house!! Praying they catch the guys!!!
