Guthrie’s Devin Frey shot a personal tournament best last week to help the Guthrie High School boy’s golf team to their lowest score of the season. In the process, Frey took first place overall in the individual competition.
The Jays took on the Carl Albert Invitational at John Conrad in Midwest City on April 6. Teams participating included Guthrie, Carl Albert, El Reno, Noble, Piedmont, and Shawnee. As a team, the Jays shot a score of 331.
Frey’s round of 75 not only helped with the conference individual title but also a third-place finish overall.
Justin Green shot an 11-over 83, Britt Drake shot a 15-over 87, Hunter Highsmith shot a 14-over 86, and Eli Poplin finished with a 20-over 92.
Guthrie is coached by Ric Meshew and Luke Dale.
