Dinner and German movie highlight Guthrie downtown alley

We continue to learn just how weird Guthrie can be. Well, it was weird again when friends gathered in a downtown alley Saturday evening to eat dinner and watch a silent German movie.

They are simply known as the Alley Cats.

Several gathered in the alley between Harrison and Oklahoma and shared a potluck meal with the German actors showing in the background.

As you entered the white, picket fence, into the alley, you were greeted with an Alley Cat painting made just for the occasion to the right, a couple of gray electrical boxes on the left, a few tables and chairs, a charming blue dumpster and the movie screen.

Oh yes, only in Guthrie.

Once dark settled in, lights from above took over. They appeared to be the same lights from the Mumford & Sons concert in 2013. The lights gave a nice glow off the alley’s power lines and transformers in the background.

On this night, it was simply the ideal place to meet up with friends and talk about the happenings in the world today. Weird or not.
