Domestic dispute leads to shooting, high-speed pursuit in downtown Guthrie

A domestic dispute led to a shooting and a high-speed chase through Logan and Oklahoma counties on Wednesday afternoon, leaving one woman rushed to the hospital and one man in custody.

The shooting occurred at around 2:43 p.m. in the 300 block of East Oklahoma Avenue. According to multiple witnesses who spoke with Guthrie News Page, a male suspect was seen shooting into a silver vehicle before fleeing the scene in another vehicle.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office initiated a vehicle pursuit, with speeds reported to exceed 100 miles per hour. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol joined the pursuit after it reached 2nd Street in Edmond.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Michael Brendaniel Adeniran, was taken into custody and transported to the Guthrie city jail.

Police say Adeniran has been arrested for shooting with intent to kill and felony eluding.

The female victim drove away from the scene and parked in an alleyway in the 400 block of East Noble Avenue, possibly in an attempt to get away from the suspect. Her vehicle was found with multiple gunshot holes and several windows shot out.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds to her shoulder and both legs. She was transported by Guthrie EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Her condition has not been released.

The investigation is ongoing.

Central Elementary School and surrounding businesses implemented security precautions.

The situation required all students to be inside the building with outside doors locked while staff accounted for all students and heightened situational awareness.

Extra officers remained on site until all students had been picked up by parents or boarded their normal bus routes.
