The Tipsy Artist and the Territorial Riders generously donated $1000 each and have become the largest supporters of the program. (L-R) Officer Jason Hamilton, Tiffany Bora and Mike Johns.

Each year Guthrie Police Officers raise money through donations from local businesses and citizens to assist less fortunate children with holiday shopping, known as “Christmas with Cops”. The program is designed to have officers shop and spend time getting to know the children who were selected to participate. This event is to provide a merrier holiday season and allow the children to spend time with law enforcement officers in a positive setting.

The Christmas with Cops committee receives names of parents that may be struggling this year from our patrol officers, local organizations and families that are requesting help. The committee then invites selected families to an event held at Walmart, where each child is paired with an officer who spends time with them, helping them pick out Christmas presents for themselves and other family members. Each child is allowed to spend up to $100. Each year is a struggle with the growing number of people requesting help, but the officers raise enough to allow 30 – 50 children enjoy a different Christmas. This year donations have been lower than previous years but we still have a few more weeks to make a difference.

The Territorial Riders continues to be an elite club when it comes to helping children throughout the year.

This program would not be possible without the support of the local Guthrie businesses, the citizens of Guthrie and Logan County, the Guthrie Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #105 and the City of Guthrie.

Guthrie FOP is always accepting donations, which are used exclusively for the Christmas with Cops program. You can donate anytime by calling the Guthrie Police Department, Oklahoma at (405) 282-3535 or stopping by dispatch which is open 24/7 located at 306 W. Oklahoma Ave.
