An elderly female driver was able to avoid injuries after running into a power pole on Friday morning.
Just after 11:30 a.m., Guthrie police and fire responded to 10th Street and Noble Ave. for the crash. Upon arrival, the pole was snapped near the top and hanging by the lines.
The vehicle was at the automatic car wash paying station when suddenly, the vehicle went into reverse, according to a witness at the car wash.
The witness said the vehicle went into the roadway, spun, clipped the pole with the driver’s side door, and back across the roadway before coming to a stop.
The impact caused all the airbags to deploy.
Guthrie Police continue to investigate but it appears to have been an accident by the driver having the vehicle in reverse instead of drive.
OG&E has been called out to repair the pole. There have been no reports of any power outages.
