A 15-year-old motorcycle driver avoided serious injuries on Tuesday after a motorist pulled out onto Division St. and striking the teen.
Two motorcycles were traveling southbound on Division St. when a white vehicle attempted to drive eastbound across Division St. from Cleveland Ave struck one of the motorcycles.
The front bumper of the vehicle smashed into the front of the motorcycle in the middle of the intersection. The impact sent the motorcyclist airborne over the handle bars.
The teen said he did not see the vehicle until a split second before the collision.
The second motorcyclist, who was riding next to the victim, said he saw the vehicle coming and was able to speed up to avoid the car.
The accident happened just before 3:30 p.m.
The teen, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to the hospital by family to be further checked out.
The motorcycle appeared to be a total loss.
A lot of people just do not look before jumping out there, looking both ways is such an easy thing to do. Just like using turn signals but there you go again, a lot of people don’t do that either.
