Emergency planning committee approves purchase of potable water trailer

The Logan County Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), comprised of representatives from local government, businesses, schools, and organizations like Logan County Mercy, recently approved the purchase of a 550-gallon potable water trailer. This new resource will be available to assist countywide agencies, including cities, towns, and rural water districts, during emergencies.

One of the key requirements for LEPC purchases is that any equipment must be accessible for use across the county in times of need. The decision to acquire the water trailer was driven by a water emergency in Cashion earlier this summer, which left the town and surrounding unincorporated areas without drinking water. Emergency crews had to borrow a water buffalo from Blaine County due to the lack of local resources.

On its first day in service, the water trailer was already requested by officials in Kingfisher to assist with a water shortage in that town. With the trailer now available within Logan County, emergency response times will be reduced, ensuring quicker access to drinking water during future incidents.
