Guthrie’s Territorial Christmas Foundation has released its full schedule for this year’s Territorial Christmas celebrations, inviting visitors to experience three weekends of events in the nation’s largest Victorian-era district. As always, the foundation’s mission centers on community-driven holiday traditions presented in the heart of historic downtown Guthrie.
The festivities begin on November 29 with Opening Night, held each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In partnership with Small Business Saturday, shoppers will receive double entries for the Shop Guthrie and Win raffle, earning two entries for every $20 spent at participating businesses. Prizes total up to $3,000. Streets will close at 3 p.m. to prepare for the Lighted Christmas Parade, which begins at 6 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Temple. Illuminated floats, vehicles, and performers will travel west along Oklahoma Avenue before the evening concludes with the Territorial Governor Ceremonies on the steps of the downtown Post Office. Opening Night events are free to the public.
The celebration continues on December 6 with the Distinctive Homes Tour. Guests can explore some of Guthrie’s most striking homes and historic buildings, each decorated for the season. This self-guided tour is the foundation’s largest annual fundraiser and features properties selected for their beauty, craftsmanship, and historical significance. Tickets can be reserved online or purchased in person on the day of the tour.
Victorian Walk Nights will take place on December 6 and December 13. These evenings invite visitors to step into a festive, Victorian atmosphere throughout downtown’s historic district. Guests can expect costumed characters, live entertainment, shopping, food and beverages, and family-friendly activities. Both nights are free and draw visitors from across the country who return each year to experience the charm and tradition.
The Territorial Christmas Foundation is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving Guthrie’s holiday heritage and presenting events that reflect the community spirit that earned Guthrie its title as the Christmas Capital of Oklahoma.
