Family files civil suit against a Guthrie living center

The family of a mentally challenged female has filed a lawsuit against Westview Living Center for neglect and injuries during her residency.

Last month, Gerald William “Butch” Perry Jr. was arrested and is facing five felony counts, including first degree rape, three counts of forcible oral sodomy and rape by instrumentation.

Perry was a facility maintenance employee at Westview Living Center, located at 1900 West Harrison, when the accused acts where have to take place. Related Story: Facility worker charged with sex crimes on mental patients

Westview Living Center is a privately owned institution that provides assisted living services to mentally incapacitated persons.

Oklahoma City attorney, Jeff Marr, filed the lawsuit on behalf of the girl’s family in Oklahoma County on June 1. The owners, administrator and director of nursing are listed as defendants.

The victim, who has the mental capacity of a fourth grader, was a resident between November 2010 and May 2012.

Marr states in the claim that during the female’s residency, Westview negligently failed to provide a safe and protective environment, and as a result the resident suffered repeated instances of neglect and abuse.

The attorney list five causes of action against the center and is asking $75,000 for punitive damages on each cause, along with attorney fees, costs and interest.

  1. what a horrible place SHUT IT DOWN . Yeah i will admit it i was staying there to finish my highschool year in 05 . Some of the workers were good but some were HORRIBLE
