A fatal collision occurred on Saturday that claimed the life of one person and injured four.
The crash happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Portland Avenue, about a quarter-mile north of Triplett Road, located roughly eight miles west of Guthrie. The tragic accident involved three vehicles.
The first vehicle, a 2022 Chevrolet Camaro, was driven by 27-year-old Srikanth Eduru from Edmond, OK. Eduru was transported by Guthrie EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was treated and released for internal trunk injuries.
The passenger in the Camaro, 25-year-old Harika Jetti, also from Edmond, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries to the head, arm, leg, and internal and external trunk.
Jetti was attending UCO in hopes of becoming a veterinarian. A Gofundme has been setup.
A relative told India Today, “We are completely heartbroken by this sudden loss. Our priority right now is to get Harika home and perform the final rites. We request the government’s support and cooperation in this difficult time.”
The second vehicle, a 2018 Ram 1500, was driven by 26-year-old Lauren Danielle Cronister from Crescent. She was transported by private vehicle to Mercy Medical Center in Guthrie, where she was treated and released for injuries to the head, arm, leg, and internal and external trunk.
The third vehicle, a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse, was driven by 47-year-old Nathan Smith from Guthrie. He was transported by Guthrie EMS to OU Medical Center and treated and released for leg injuries, as well as internal and external trunk injuries.
The passenger in the Traverse, 47-year-old Amy Smith, also from Guthrie, was treated and released from the same medical center for internal trunk injuries.
The cause of the collision is currently under investigation, along with the conditions of the drivers at the time of the accident.
All involved vehicles were equipped with seatbelts and airbags, which were in use and deployed, respectively.
