Logan County homeowners were being evacuated from an area near just north of Guthrie as firefighters battled wildfires on Monday afternoon.
Crews responded to the fire on State Highway 77 and County Road 72. The wildfire made its way south to County Road 73 and made a quick jump from there before being extinguish. The fire started just before 1 p.m. and contained by 3:00.
Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow reported anywhere from 100 to 150 acres were burned up including hay bails, that causes a fear of rekindling. However, there were no structures damaged although they were in danger at one time.
A local resident told Guthrie News Page that a tractor was the cause of the fire and was later confirmed with the local authorities.
Crews from Guthrie, Deer Creek, Coyle, Meridan, Sooner, Mulhall, Langston, Crescent, Cashion, Marshall, Oralndo, Carney, Bostwick Water Service, and Oak Cliff all responded to the grass fire.
