The Guthrie Church of Faith was damaged to a fire in the corner of the building.

At around 9:30 Saturday evening, a Logan County Sheriff deputy saw flames coming from the southwest corner of the Guthrie Church of Faith, located behind the Sheriff’s Office at 323 N. Harrison, and immediately called for help. (See video below.)

The Guthrie Fire Department was on the scene for about 60 minutes extinguishing the flames that could be seen at a window and near the top of the church. The fire crew worked fast enough to keep the fire in the southwest corner where it had started.

No one was inside the church at the time and no injuries were reported at the scene.

In addition to the fire, the church suffered smoke damage and a hole in the roof where fire crews had to cut a portion out to release the smoke that was slowly filtering out under the roof. The fire has now been contained and numerous roofers, including the best roofer in Broomfield, have offered their services to help evaluate the damaged roof and see if it can be repaired. It may take some time, and even a new roof, but the church will be repaired.

The fire appears to have started from the outside of the church near the window. No other details were available at the scene.
