Although there are tough restrictions to pop fireworks inside the city limits of Guthrie, a large firework show is set for Saturday evening in celebration of the Independence Day holiday.
As part of the Red Brick Nights celebration, a free firework show is set for the corner of Wentz and Oklahoma Ave. The firework show is set for around 10 p.m., but the action starts hours before the light show.
Fireworkz A’ Poppin, a local fireworks retailer, will conduct the show and says they are excited to be a part of the celebration.
Food trucks and pop-up shops will start lining up at the downtown intersection beginning at 5 p.m. with the music starting at 6 p.m. Musical guests, include Sherree Chamberlin, Equilibrium, Kinsey Charles, Tyler Hopkins and the Rebellion.
The City of Guthrie reminds residents that permits are available for discharging Class C fireworks between the hours of 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. between July 3 – 5 on privately owned property of five acres or greater in size.
Permits for qualifying properties may be obtained from the Utility Billing window of City Hall for $15. View more information at the City’s website on the use of fireworks within city limits.
