A southern Logan County home went up in flames on Tuesday afternoon leaving an elderly couple without a home. Firefighters were dispatched to the same home on Monday.
The Woodcrest Fire Department responded to 11424 S. Post, near the intersection of Post and Charter Oak, just before 4:30 p.m. for a single story brick home that was totally involved once they arrived to the scene.
Heavy, black smoke could be seen from miles away.
Firefighters and nearby neighbors were uncertain if the couple was home at the time of the blaze. It was not until after 6 p.m. firefighters confirmed no one was inside the home
Along with Woodcrest, Guthrie, Oak Cliff and Sooner fire departments assisted with the fire. It took crews about an hour to contain the flames that had engulfed home.
The state fire marshal was also called out to the scene.
In addition to water, fire crews used foam to help suffocate the flames.
Just last night, firefighters were called to the home for a fire that was contained to the garage. Power to the home was cut off as firefighters left, but returned to the home with power restored.
Fire officials say the fire appears to have again started in the area of the garage.
