Flames, smoke over take home; family escapes

A family was forced to evacuate their home Wednesday afternoon after flames and smoke took over.

The Guthrie Fire Department responded to the 2400 block of Ethel Lane just before 4 p.m. As fire crews arrived smoke could be seen coming throughout the home.

Flames were seen shooting from the back side of the double-wide trailer.

Firefighters were forced to rip the siding off the home to reach the flames inside and from underneath the home.

The home is a total loss.

Oak Cliff, Woodcrest, and Sooner fire departments assisted Guthrie firefighters.

The family had several pets inside the home. It was not known at the scene if all the animals could escape.

One cat was treated with oxygen by a firefighter who had suffered smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

One person was seen with injuries to their hands, but no other injuries were immediately reported at the scene.
