Fogarty Elementary honor police officers, fallen deputies families

Students from Fogarty Elementary packed the auditorium to sing and honor police officers for their Cake With Cops event. The school’s staff and students also recognized the families of two fallen deputies.

The second and third graders belted out the Smash Mouth song Everyday Superhero to law enforcement officers, who were seated in the front row of the auditorium.

A slide show was played of various officers from the Guthrie Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), Oklahoma Highway Patrol and other agencies.

Afterwards, Principal Marsha Todd invited the family members of Jason Wright and David Wade to the front, whom both died while on duty with the LCSO within the last six months.

Wright’s son is currently a student at the building and second grade teacher Jamie Alexander is a family member of the Wade’s.

As the family members held back tears, Todd presented them each with a framed popsicle stick project. The sticks were painted red, white and blue and formed into a U.S. flag with blue popsicles sticks in the middle to represent the Thin Blue Line.

Following the assembly, officers enjoyed cakes and desserts in the lobby with staff members.
