An arrest warrant was filed last week in Logan County for the arrest of a former employee at a medical clinic on an embezzlement charge. The suspect apparently confessed about taking the money.
According to a probable cause affidavit, a director of operations for Mercy Primary Care, located at 2919 S. Division, told police an employee had been embezzling money.
The director says Christina Dawn Bibbs, 40, entered the money deposits for Mercy into their computer system, but Bibbs would enter an amount then make an adjustment to that number and take the money for herself. Bibbs would hold onto the deposit for a few days and then pay the money back with a check to even the money appearing the money was never gone.
The reporting party says eventually Bibbs got in over her head and could not pay the money back that was allegedly stolen.
Bibbs is accused of taking money from June 1, 2015 through Sept. 28, 2015.
In total, $1,932.59 was taken from the clinic.
The director says Bibbs used the money for her gas, electric and rent.
Bibbs, in a written confession to Mercy’s human resource department, confessed about taking the money and agreed to pay back the full amount owed, according to the report.
The confession was signed and dated on Sept. 29, 2015. The same day she was terminated.
Mercy officials say there has been no attempt to pay back the money.
The Logan County District Attorney’s Office filed one count of embezzlement last Friday. A judge has set a $5,000 bond.
