Former Guthrie city councilman passes away at age 84

Former Guthrie city councilman Ed French passed away last week in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

French, who died on August 26 at the age of 84, served on the city council from 2003 to 2007 in Ward I.

French was also a Mason and served as Master of Albert Pike Lodge; Guthrie Scottish Rite as a 33rd degree Mason where he served as President of the Scottish Rite Building Co.

In addition, he was on the United way committee and a member of the American Legion.

Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 7 at the First Christian Church of Guthrie, 402 E. Noble, with the Reverend Ronnie Fields officiating.

Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
