Four bids received to rebuild washed-out county bridge

After heavy rains washed out a southern Logan County bridge 18 months ago, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation received four bids last week to reconstruct the bridge.

In late May 2015, heavy rains caused the Cottonwood Creek on Seward Road to rise and took out the west approach of the bridge located on Seward Road – west of the railroad tracks between Broadway and Santa Fe Ave.

The result left a 20 foot drop.

District 1 County Commissioner Marven Goodman said ODOT conducted their new contract letting meeting and bids were opened to replace the bridge just east of Broadway.

The bids ranged from $1,025,065 to $1,224,283 with the lowest bid coming from Bridgeco Contractors.

“The project will be awarded at the December ODOT Commission meeting this time next month using 80 percent Federal funds and matched with 20 percent County Improvements for Roads and Bridges (CIRB) funds,” Goodman said.

The commissioner says the successful bidder will receive the contract after the first of the year and is expected to start work shortly thereafter.

The project is estimated to take 120 calendar days to complete.

In the meantime, motorists will be forced to continue to take a detoured route.
