While the numbers may remain down for the Lady Jays cross country team, the duo of Lauren Toney and Lexi Hastings are doing well on their own.
Hastings, who is now a freshmen, has joined Toney after a year ago, Toney was the lone runner for the successful program.
Hastings made her impact on the program when she finished first recently in the Prague meet. Just behind her was Toney for third place.
The two runners had reversed decisions in the Weatherford run on September 1st. Toney came in with a time of 6:16 and a 9th place finish while Hastings followed her two seconds later for a 10th place medal finish.
Lexi Bingham, of Piedmont, was the overall winner with a time of 5:51.
For the boys program, Guthrie finished fourth overall with 111 points. Mount St. Mary’s took the overall team win with 73 team points.
Brandon Greenlee continues to be the Jays top runner, including a fifth overall finish in a time of 11:41. In the Prague meet, Greenlee finished second overall.
The next BlueJay to cross the line was Austin O’Connor with a 11:32 three-mile run. O’Connor joined the team this year and is known for his wrestling ability for the BlueJay wrestling team, including wrestling in the state tournament.
Adam Noriega was 20th overall and Sean Harvey was 31st overall. Noriega ran the race in 11:36 while Harvey did it in twelve minutes flat.
