Friday night in the Suburban Conference; updated standings

Friday evening’s basketball games in the talented Suburban Conference left just two unbeaten teams: Shawnee girls and the Guthrie boys.

The BlueJays took the first meeting between them and Deer Creek on their Homecoming night to stay unbeaten (5-0). Meanwhile, Shawnee (7-0) needed just 25 points to take down Carl Albert in a top 10 match-up.

The Noble girls picked up their first win of the season while Western Heights teams swept Piedmont.

Week 9 rankings have been released by the coaches. On the boy’s side in 5A, El Reno comes in at No. 8, Carl Albert No. 11, Shawnee No. 12, Deer Creek No. 15, Guthrie No. 16, and Chickasha No. 19. In 4A, Piedmont is No. 8 and Harrah is No. 16.

In the girls week 9 5A rankings, Shawnee is No. 4, Carl Albert No. 6, Western Heights is No. 7, Deer Creek No. 9, Guthrie No. 15, and El Reno No. 20. In the 4A rankings, Harrah is No. 2 and Piedmont is No. 9.
