Game Preview: Guthrie vs Guymon

The Guthrie Bluejays welcome back Guthrie High School alumni and the Guymon Tigers to Jelsma Stadium for Homecoming 2015. The Jays will be searching for the second win in a row.

Guthrie enters overall with a 2-2 record and 1-1 in district 5A-2. Perhaps, a bit surprising is Guymon entering with a winning record at 3-2 and also 1-1 inside the district. In the previous four seasons, Guymon managed only three wins (3-37).

The game can be heard on Triple Play Sports Radio 105.1 FM., streamed world-wide on both Guthrie Sports Page and Guthrie News Page websites along with the Tunein radio app. The pregame show begins at 6:30 p.m. with the kick at 7:00.

Guymon entered the season with the most losses in the decade in Class 5A by winning only 18 games, which tied them with Tulsa Hale, but have moved up the list with the three wins in 2015.

The Tigers picked up the three wins in the first four weeks over Hugoton, KS, Dalhart, TX and Southeast. However, last week, Carl Albert blitzed the Tigers 57-25.

Guymon, who returns majority of their offense from a season ago, has increased their scoring in 2015 by 10 points currently at 25.8 and have scored at least 20 points in each game.

One of the highlights of the season for Guymon was a 33-7 homecoming win over Dalhart. In that game, Carter Cash caught two touchdown passes.

Since 2001, Guthrie has compiled a 12-2 homecoming record.
