Last week, the Bluejay Powerlifting team traveled to Bridge Creek to complete in their first powerlifting meet of the season. Out of the 16 lifters that competed, 10 finished in the top 10.
Matthew LIngerfelt, Caleb Sanders, Justin Adams and Justin Ergang all received medals for their top five efforts.
Guthrie who competes in the 5A NW Region is now preparing for regional action on March 3 and later in the State Powerlift competition. Both will take place in El Reno.
To qualify for state competition, a lifter must finish in the top five of their weight class at regionals. At the state tournament, 30 athletes will compete in each weight class state-wide.
Oklahoma high school powerlifting is overlooked by the Oklahoma Football Coaches Association.
Guthrie Results in Bridge Creek
Stetson Harkness finished in 9th place in the 132 lbs weight class.
Caed Guggisberg finished in 10th place in the 145 lbs weight class.
Matthew LIngerfelt finished in 5th place in the 157 lbs weight class.
Caleb Sanders finished in 3rd place in the 168 lbs weight class.
Cade Whitfield finished in 8th place in the 168 lbs weight class.
Justin Adams finished in 4th place in the 181 lbs weight class.
Justin Ergang finished in 4th place in the 275 lbs weight class.
David Scott finished in 7th place in the 275 lbs weight class.
Dylan Dollar finished in 8th place in the 275 lbs weight class.
Johnny Scroggins finished in 8th place in the HWT weight class.
