GHS standout Mariah Dightman signs with McPherson College

In a ceremony held in the high school gymnasium, Guthrie High School senior Mariah Dightman solidified her commitment to McPherson College, marking the next chapter in her basketball journey surrounded by family, coaches, and friends.

Described as both a stellar athlete and a remarkable individual, Dightman’s dedication and work ethic have left an indelible mark on Guthrie’s basketball program.

Head coach Breck Clark commended Dightman’s character, stating, “She’s a great kid and a great athlete,” highlighting her unwavering determination and perseverance on and off the court. Clark recalled Dightman’s relentless work ethic, emphasizing her resilience in overcoming a knee injury early in her high school career.

Dightman’s stellar performance on the court has not gone unnoticed, earning her accolades such as the 5A District 1 Offensive Player of the Year and a coveted spot on the First Team All-District roster.

Looking ahead to her collegiate journey, Clark expressed confidence in Dightman’s ability to thrive at the collegiate level, remarking, “It was a joy to coach her and be around her. I know [she] is going to do great things in college, and we can’t wait to see her succeed.”
