GHS tennis teams place high in Public School Championships

The Guthrie High School girls tennis team finished second while the boys captured the third place trophy at the 5A Public School Championships.

Coming away with top honors was the No. 1 doubles team of Aaron Hartley and Caden Hopfer.

For the Bluejays, in No. 2 doubles action, Kevin Blackston and Brandon LaMarche placed third.

In singles action, Jess Minter finished sixth in No. 2 singles and Joe Kuruvilla placed seventh in No. 1 singles action.

While the State runner-up Lady Jays did not come away with an overall winner, the team combined for three top three finishes.

Brianna Berryman placed second in No. 1 singles action and Trista LeGrande finished third in No. 2 competition.

The doubles team of Jillian Chappell and Makaya Coker finished second at No. 1 doubles

Faith Anderson and Kiah Thomas placed fifth in No. 2 doubles.

Both teams are now gearing up for upcoming regionals.
