Girls tennis takes second at conference

The Lady Jays tennis program had a fine showing at the conference tournament on April 24 with a second place showing behind Deer Creek.

Andy Hartley goes flying in the air on a return as his teammate Seth Vicchio gets set.

#1 Singles Cheyenne Royal placed 5th

First round she defeated Carl Albert in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-1
In the next round she lost to Deer Creek 6-1, 6-0
And in the last round she lost to Shawnee 6-1, 6-0

#2 Singles Heidi Kuruvilla placed 2nd

She defeated Harrah in the first round 2-6, 6-1, 6-2
In the next round she defeated Carl Albert 3-6, 6-3, 7-5
In the finals she lost to Shawnee 1-6, 1-6

#1 Doubles Sarah Howells and Carissa Mathena placed 2nd

They defeated Chickasha 6-0, 6-0 in the first round
In the second round they beat Harrah 7-5, 6-0
In the finals they lost to Deer Creek 2-6, 6-4, 1-6

#2 Doubles Ryan Robbins and Kamber Smedley placed 4th

In the first round they defeated Chickasha 6-2, 6-1
In the next round they lost to Carl Albert  5-7, 4-6
In the last round they lost to Shawnee in three sets  they lost the first set in a tie breaker, won the second set 6-2 and then los the third set 4-6.

Boys

#1 Singles Kirk Wilkes placed 6th

#2 Singles Connor Johnson placed 9th

#1 Doubles Andy Hartley and Seth Vicchio placed 3rd

In the first round they defeated Western Hts 6-0, 6-2
In the next round the lost to the defending state champs 0-6, 2-6
In the last round they defeated Piedmont 6-2, 6-2

#2 Doubles Dalton Jones and Dakota Leach placed 4th

In the first round they defeated Harrah in three sets.
They lost the first set 5-7, and then won the next two sets, 6-1, 6-1
In the second round they lost to Carl Albert 6-1, 6-1
In the last round they lost to Deer Creek 6-3, 6-1
