After spending 346 days in the Logan County jail, convicted felon Jonathan Lee Goodman is back behind bars. This time in Payne County with similar charges that landed him in jail in August 2014, including using a dangerous weapon.
According to a news report from KOTV in Tulsa, Goodman was arrested in Cushing on several complaints, including kidnapping, drugs and illegal firearms, after a Cushing officer pulled Goodman over on a traffic stop on Tuesday.
Goodman, 31, was spotted driving recklessly and told the officer he was taking a female passenger, who was found crying and holding her stomach, to the hospital. The officer followed Goodman to the hospital and issued three citations. However, Goodman told the officer his name was David Goodman and his date of birth, which Guthrie News Page has confirmed David is Jonathan Goodman’s brother.
In the probable cause affidavit, the officer found the true identity of Goodman and returned to the hospital. The female victim said she had moved to Cushing to get away from Goodman.
The female victim says Goodman came to her home and was angry. He took her phone so she could not call anyone for help, and when she tried to leave, he pointed a rifle at her and told her to go to sleep.
Following a consent search, the officer seized a large amount of methamphetamine and marijuana, a digital scale, a partially burned roach, a glass smoking pipe with crystal residue and a stolen AR-15 that was fully loaded with a live round in the chamber, according to the report.
Goodman was arrested for obstructing an officer and false impersonation, but after the search those charges increased to possession of meth within 1,000 feet of a park, marijuana possession, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a firearm after felony conviction, use of firearm while committing a felony, possession of stolen property and kidnapping.
Goodman was booked in the Logan County jail on Aug. 6, 2014 and less than a year later (July 7, 2015) reached a plea deal and pleaded guilty to three charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic abuse. He was originally charged with child abuse, domestic strangulation, assault with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping. Related story: Woman, child escape bullets and abuse; $250,000 bond set
After pleading guilty in court, he was later released from custody that day.
As part of the plea deal with the Logan County district attorney’s office, Goodman was placed with the Department of Corrections for 10 years with nine years suspended with good behavior, fines, no contact with the victim and 52 weeks of anger management. All charges were to run concurrent.
Goodman is the son of Logan County District 1 County Commissioner Marven Goodman.
