District 2 registered voters will soon decide between Commissioner Charlie Meadows and Floyd Coffman in the Republican Primary Runoff on Tuesday, Aug. 27 for District 2 County Commissioner.
This marks the third time the two candidates have faced off on the same ballot since last year. The winner of Tuesday’s election will be sworn into office in January for a four-year term. No Democrat, Independent, or Libertarian candidates filed for the position.

As the election draws nearer, Commissioner Meadows has actively sought and received several high-profile endorsements.
Governor Kevin Stitt, who owns property in District 2, expressed his support: “As a Logan County property owner in recent years, I have met fellow residents who have said Charlie has done more for roads than any commissioner in recent history. Commissioner Meadows has also become the target of dark money special interest groups who are lying about his record. Charlie is a conservative leader, and I urge you to get out and vote for him in the runoff election on August 27th.”
Logan County District 1 Commissioner Mark Sharpton also endorsed Meadows, saying, “I’ve watched Charlie Meadows provide direction to improve county roads and bridges both in the short term and, more importantly, by developing a long-term vision for District 2. He knows that long-term planning is as important as everyday leadership. I believe he should be re-elected.”
Logan County District Attorney Laura Thomas, a District 2 resident, voiced her support: “Integrity, commitment, experience, character. That’s why I will be voting for Charlie Meadows on August 27th to remain my county commissioner.”
Dennis Ochs the President of the Logan County Fair Board added, “As President of the Logan County Fair Board, I can honestly say that District 2 Commissioner Charlie Meadows has always been right there to help with any needs at the fairgrounds. He is always trying to get funding to improve our buildings. Vote Charlie Meadows on August 27th.”
Coyle Trustee Dustyn King expressed his endorsement: “As a Trustee of the Town of Coyle, it has been a pleasure working with Commissioner Charlie Meadows this past year. I have seen the work he has been able to accomplish, and he has truly supported the Town of Coyle. I look forward to his continued support over the next four years. I am speaking for myself and not the other Trustees or the town.”
At the town hall meeting on August 12, Meadows predicted Tuesday’s election outcome.
“I’ve been a political hack for a long time, I can tell you ultimately 85% of the time if an incumbent does not win in the primary they lose in the runoff. That is if you get 45% of the vote. I got a touch over 40 (percent). So, it looks really bleak for me except my opponent has made some serious mistakes that I am taking advantage of those mistakes,” Meadows said. “I am going to go out on a limb here, I believe there is an 85% chance that I will win this election with 60% or more of the vote which is against all odds.”
Polls are open 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
