Updated on March 5, 2019 — Officials release name of victim found dead in house fire
The Guthrie Police Department continues to await notification from the Medical Examiner’s Office on the identity of the victim found inside a burning home.
The department says the investigation is still in its early stages after a fire broke out in the 600 block of E. Springer Friday morning. Related article: One person found dead inside house fire
One person was able to get out of the home, while another man was found deceased in a bedroom.
The medical examiner has not made a positive identification of the body as of late Saturday evening.
Despite social media posts, police officials say there have been no persons taken into custody.
Police officials add, although there have been numerous fires in recent months, they have no reason to believe the fires were set by arsonists.
