GPD officer wins raffle for fallen LCSO deputy’s family

It was only fitting a law enforcement officer won the rifle raffle on Thursday. The raffle, organized by the Guthrie Police Department, benefited the family of fallen Logan County Sheriff Officer (LCSO) Jason Wright.

With several members of the Guthrie Police Department and two deputies with the Sheriff’s Office, widow Lindsay Wright and her children drew the winning ticket for a Colt M4 style rifle with five 30 round magazines, 100 rounds of FMJ ammunition, 60 rounds of Civil Defense ammunition and a carrying case.

The winning ticket belong to Officer Michael Schmidt with the Guthrie Police Department.

Deputy Jason Wright died Oct. 23 after suffering a massive heart attack while on duty with LCSO. He was 33 and survived by his wife of 14 years and their four children.

Standing inside City Hall, Lindsay thanked all law enforcement officers and says she is thankful her husband was an officer, or they may not have received as much support as her family has seen.

The raffle generated nearly $4,000 for the Wright family.
