GPS school year begins successfully

School began Wednesday morning for students in Guthrie.  This morning the entire central office administrative team toured all buildings.

SchoolAccording to Dr. Mike Simpson, Superintendent of Schools, “Overall, we are very pleased with how this morning went. We experienced the usual traffic issues we expect with the first day of school but the Transportation Department seemed to have a fairly smooth beginning.”

It was not picture perfect day for some of the school buildings.

“We have experienced some air conditioning issues in several buildings with the most severe issue being at the Junior High.  We expect a contractor to be onsite this (Wed.) afternoon.  This is not unusual as filling the buildings for the first time places loads on the units they haven’t experienced since the start of the 2013-14 school year.”

Simpson was impressed with staff and teachers as they geared up for the start of the 2014-15 school year.

“I was very impressed with our teachers and staff as they provided orientation to our students this morning.”
