The day before the Guthrie Bluejays take on the Tuttle Tigers for Homecoming 2023, Guthrie Public Schools announced they would heighten security measures and add restrictions.
Nearly every school district in the state has released additional safety measures for high school football games after a teen was shot and killed in late August during a Del City and Choctaw game.
“In light of recent events, we aim to create a secure enjoyable environment. Therefore, you will notice an increase in security,” the district said in a letter.
In a social media release, GPS states that an adult is required to accompany elementary students and that re-entry will not be allowed.
Also, junior high and high school students must be seated in the stands. Wandering students will be asked to leave.
The district states that unruly behavior will not be tolerated.
Alcohol, tobacco, and weapons continue to be not allowed inside the stadium.
