10 kids in Guthrie will get the chance to sing the national anthem before the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game inside the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The group is gearing up for their big performance on Monday January 23rd, when the Thunder take on the Detroit Pistons.
Guthrie Upper Elementary School’s music director, Cathy Clark, is leading the honor choir consisting of five sixth graders, three fifth graders and two fourth graders.
The group originally was to sing the anthem on Christmas Day to begin the Thunder’s season, but was asked to hold off until another game. Related story: Thunder tells GUES choir to hold off on national anthem

The group continues rehearsal’s in the mornings and just recently got a practice run at it by singing before the high school’s homecoming basketball games.
The anthem will be performed at 6:55 with the game tipping off at 7 pm. The students will arrive at 4:45 to go through sound rehearsal.
