Guthrie Public Schools is set to honor the Class of 2020 with a graduation ceremony on Friday, July 17. Due to COVID-19 and guidelines by health officials, tickets and seating will be limited to students and their guests.
The ceremony is set to begin at 8 p.m. inside Jelsma Stadium and will be streamed live on Guthrie News Page.
Guthrie High School Principal Chris LeGrande says the ceremony will be abbreviated to reduce the risk of exposure inherent at a large gathering of people.
“Thank you for sharing your child with us and your utmost patience and understanding during these most undesirable set of circumstances,” LeGrande said. “Although this senior year did not end the way anyone had anticipated, we can all take comfort in knowing these students will finally receive the recognition they rightfully deserve with a traditional, albeit abbreviated, graduation ceremony.”
Notes:
— Seating will be limited to four tickets per graduating senior. Guest tickets may be picked up at GHS between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Tuesday, July 14th through Thursday, July 16th. Distribution will take place under the front awning at the main entrance. Guest tickets will not be available for pick up the day of graduation.
— Red and yellow tickets will be distributed to students with red tickets allowing visitors to enter and sit on the home side of Jelsma Stadium (west entrance), while yellow tickets will permit visitors to enter and sit on the visitor’s side (east entrance).
Once inside the stadium, guests will not be allowed to cross over the field from one side to the other. There will be no admission into the stadium without a ticket. Security will be present at both entrances to ensure admittance protocols are being followed.
— Families are encouraged to sit together as social distancing guidelines will be in place.
