Guthrie alum Eli Kirk places fourth at NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships

Former Guthrie High School standout Eli Kirk continues to make his mark at the collegiate level, earning a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships for the University of Central Oklahoma.

Kirk, a sophomore and two-time state champion during his time in Guthrie, delivered an impressive performance on the national stage, battling back through the consolation bracket with determination and resilience.

After an early setback, Kirk responded by winning five matches on the back side—earning bonus points in each victory and playing a key role in UCO’s team success. His run included a second-period fall over Chadron State’s Quade Smith and a statement 10-2 major decision over No. 1 seed Isaiah Gomez of Adams State in the consolation semifinals.

Kirk ultimately fell in a tightly contested third-place match to West Liberty’s Logan Davis, finishing fourth in the nation at 125 pounds. He ended the season with a strong 16-3 record, including 12 bonus-point wins.

His performance helped lift UCO to a fourth-place team finish in a tightly contested national tournament.

A season ago, Kirk finished with a fabulous 20-4 record with 16 bonus-point victories while seeing action in eight duals and three open tournaments.
