The Guthrie High School baseball team won two of their three games of the Mark Howard Memorial Tournament last week in Chandler. The Bluejays centerfielder was named to the all-tournament team.
The Jays sported their 1989 throw back jersey tops for the first time and went 2-0 in the new uni’s. The uniforms help honor the program’s only state championship baseball team.
After suffering a 6-3 loss to a talented Norhteast Oklahoma Association of Homeschools (NOAH) on Thursday, Guthrie collected a 10-1 run-rule victory over Class 3A Lindsay on Friday and a 5-0 win over Class 6A Putnam City West on Saturday.
Marcellous Owens was named to the all-tournament team after a 5-10 performance at the plate. The leadoff hitter scored five runs and brought in two runs.
The Jays are now 8-4 overall and 3-1 in district play.
