On Monday night, the Guthrie Board of Education voted 6-0 to approve the purchase of a property adjacent to Cotteral Elementary School, marking another step in the district’s efforts to enhance its facilities.
The board authorized the acquisition of the property and home at 2111 W. Cleveland, located just south of the elementary school. Currently owned by Chappell Properties LLC, the site will be purchased for $180,706.59.
This move follows a previous property purchase in October 2021 when the district acquired four undeveloped lots east of this location. That land has since been transformed into a construction staging area and a parking lot, with plans for future school parking. Related article: GPS to purchase land for future parking
School officials anticipate finalizing the purchase by the end of the month. The addition of this property is expected to provide new opportunities to support Cotteral Elementary’s operations.
