Guthrie boys wrestling finishes third at Duncan Tournament; Carey wins 165 division

The Guthrie High School boys wrestling team had a strong showing at the Duncan High School tournament, finishing third overall after two days of intense competition.

Individually, junior Clayton Carey highlighted the tournament for the Jays by winning the 165-pound division.

On Day 1, several Bluejays advanced through the championship brackets with impressive performances.

Joel Landry won his first two matches by fall at 106 pounds, Urijah Sisk captured two wins by fall at 113 pounds, and Aiden Hardin went undefeated in his early matches at 138 pounds. Other notable performances included Luke Lyons at 144 pounds, Clayton Carey at 165 pounds, Levi Dennis at 175 pounds, and SirWilliam Morgan at 285 pounds, each demonstrating skill and determination.

Day 2 proved challenging, but ten Bluejays reached the final rounds and earned individual medals.

Joel Landry took third at 106 pounds, Urijah Sisk placed fourth at 113 pounds, Ayden Smith finished fourth at 126 pounds, Aiden Hardin placed fourth at 138 pounds, and Luke Lyons earned second at 144 pounds. Colten Stevens captured third at 157 pounds, Carey secured first at 165 pounds, Levi Dennis and Rowan McHone each placed fifth at 175 and 190 pounds respectively, and SirWilliam Morgan finished fifth at 285 pounds.

The team’s collective effort and determination throughout the tournament highlighted their skill and work ethic, earning Guthrie a strong third-place team finish.
