With the final week of the regular season on the horizon, the Guthrie BlueJays already know where they will be playing and have a strong feeling who they will be playing.
The top-ranked BlueJays entertain the Northwest Classen Knights on Friday evening for Senior Night. Kick off is set for 7 p.m. and can be heard on Triple Play Sports Radio 105.1 FM or on the web at Guthrie Sports Page and Guthrie News Page.
Guthrie (9-0) captured the fourth district title (since 2007) last week and is in line to host the first two rounds at home for the playoffs. The Knights (3-6) started the season 3-2, but have dropped four straight games.
Guthrie will look to hold on to some impressive streaks.
– The Jays have won a school record 25 straight home games with their last setback (Carl Albert) in week seven in the 2009 season. The Jays won a program best 22 games from 2011 and 2012.
– Under Rafe Watkins, his teams are a perfect 12-0 on senior night.
– Guthrie is riding a 9 game overall win streak which is fourth all-time.
Northwest Classen has only been able to score 38 points in the last three weeks against Carl Albert, McGuinness and Deer Creek while giving up 152 points.
Last year, Guthrie rolled to an easy 49-0 win in Oklahoma City.
Guthrie will host the first round of the playoffs inside Jelsma Stadium and are expected to have a week one rematch with Duncan barring a major upset.
