The Guthrie Bluejays delivered an impressive performance Friday night, shutting out El Reno 49-0 to secure their third consecutive victory and remain unbeaten in district play. Guthrie’s offense was in full gear, scoring on all five of their first-half drives, while the defense earned its first shutout of the season.
Senior quarterback Kolten Carlock led the charge, scoring three rushing touchdowns on runs of 15, 1, and 16 yards. Junior running back Zane Thomas contributed two rushing scores, breaking free for 15 and 30-yard touchdowns. Senior halfback Blake Doles added to the offensive explosion with a 33-yard touchdown run, while Eli Plagg hauled in a 10-yard touchdown pass from Daelon Rice just before halftime.
With the win, Guthrie improved to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in District 5A-2, while El Reno, missing their starting quarterback due to injury, fell to 2-4 and 1-2 in the district.
Guthrie’s defense was equally dominant, forcing El Reno to punt on seven of their 10 possessions and stifling any attempts to score.
This victory also marks Head Coach Kelly Beeby’s 80th career win in his 11th season leading the Bluejays.
Guthrie will return home to Jelsma Stadium for three of their final four regular-season games, starting Thursday when they host Western Heights.
