As expected, the Guthrie Bluejays took care of business in Lawton with a 41-6 win over the Eisenhower Eagles. Not as expected, the Jays will be traveling to Duncan for a first round match-up following an upset win over Altus.
Guthrie was led offensively by running back Josh Rains with three scores, including a 45-yard touchdown score that saw him battle Eagle defenders into the end zone.
The Jays built a 10-0 first quarter lead with a 31-yard field goal from David Vargas and a an 18-yard run from Rains.
The lead jumped to 34-0 at the break with touchdowns from Marcellous Owens, Jackson Waddell and Rains while Vargas added a chip shot field goal from 24 yards out.
Rains added a third quarter score with a 10-yard run to push the score up 41-6.
The Eagles scored their lone touchdown with just under four minutes left in the third quarter.
Guthrie travels to Duncan next week for the first round of the playoffs.
The Demons shocked fourth ranked Altus with a 42-21 home win.
Duncan is 9-1 overall and finished second in 5A-1 with a 6-1 record.
The Bluejays finish the season with an 8-2 record and third place in 5A-2.
