The Guthrie Fire Department announced on Friday the passing of a retired Battalion Chief, who also served as an interim fire chief for the City of Guthrie.
Rodney Davison, 55, died on Friday and was quickly felt throughout the department.
“He will be greatly missed by all who knew him,” a social media post from the fire department explained.
Davison retired from GFD in January 2013 after more than 25 years with the department. He was honored at a reception inside City Hall. Related story: Fire department promotes six at city council meeting
Davison, who served as an EMS and training coordinator for the fire department, retired in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He left as the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served as the deputy commanding officer of the 45th Fires Brigade.
“He proudly served the citizens of Guthrie and our great nation for a total of over 30 years. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers,” the post requested.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Smith-Gallo Funeral Home in Guthrie.
